Please join Expedition Inspiration for the 10th Annual Take-A-Hike on Saturday, October 15, 2005.
Breast cancer affects one in every eight American women. Every eleven minutes breast cancer claims the life of a mother, a daughter, a sister and a friend.
Help raise funds to support promising new research at the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of 39 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute as a leader in cancer prevention and treatment. Michael Press, M.D., Ph.D., co-director of the Breast Cancer Research Program at USC/Norris is investigating molecular genetic alterations in breast cancer and their role in prevention and treatment. Funds will also support the Revlon/UCLA Breast Center. Under the direction of Helena R. Chang, MD, PhD, the research seeks to significantly advance knowledge about breast cancer and to develop new standards for breast cancer care by participating in national trials and cutting-edge studies, including those developed be cancer researchers at UCLA.
Your fund-raising efforts also enable Expedition Inspiration to bring together eminent breast cancer scientists at their annual Medical Symposium. This forum fosters an accelerated exchange of ideas in the field of breast cancer research, thus contributing to the dissemination of important new findings and better treatment options for breast cancer patients.
Step 1: Register Online
Please register early. Pre-register by October 7, 2005 for only $25. On-site registration fee is $30. Online registration is available through Tuesday, October 11, 2005. You may still register the day of the Hike at the event site. All registered hikers will receive a free T-shirt, Goodie Bag and Tribute Flag which can be dedicated to a survivor or in memory of a loved one.
Step 2: Get Pledges
Create a personal Webpage and ask your friends and neighbors to sponsor you with a donation of any amount. We encourage each hiker to raise $100 in pledges.
Step 3: Assemble a team to hike
Hiking as a team can make even more of a difference. Form a team by getting 10 friends or co-workers to sign up with you. The team that raises the most money will win a basket filled with promotional items from USC and UCLA . Each team member will also be eligible for individual prizes. Step 4: Take-A-Hike and Win Great Prizes
Prizes:
1) Raise $100 in donations and receive a custom embroidered Take-a-Hike hat.
2) Raise $250 and receive a hat as well as an Expedition Inspiration tote bag.
3) Raise $500 and you will receive a hat, a tote bag and an Accusplit stopwatch!
4) Raise $1,000 and you will be the recipient of a hat, tote bag, a stopwatch and a North Face hydration pack!!
5) Raise $2,500 and you could receive a hat, tote bag, stopwatch, a hydration pack a pair of LOWA hiking boots and Leki poles!!!
6) The top fundraiser will receive a 2-night deluxe accomodations at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort and Spa!!!!
